Leadership in Industry & Community

Prior to joining the HJS Team, our leadership and advisory corps were consistently recognized for their leadership in professional organizations and community service organizations. Our HJS Team members continue their legacy of service and leadership now in a variety of professional organizations and charitable causes. Our involvement not only allows us to offer the benefit of a lifetime of service to those organizations, but also is indicative of the passion we have for serving our industry and community.  Here are some of the organizations that the HJS Team supports:

Leadership in the Business Advisory and Financial Services Industry is a critical advantage enjoyed by HJS. Our involvement in the industry allows access to the highest levels of leadership in government and industry, allowing HJS to provide a unique perspective to our clients. With our participation in a variety of industry-leading studies and initiatives, our clients benefit by having access to the latest thinking in policy and procedure.

    Hank  was elected Chairman Emeritus of TechAmerica and currently serves on its Executive Committee and Board of Directors as well as the organization’s Public Sector Board. Hank is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the Board of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and serves as the Chairman of the Corporate Partners’ Advisory Group. He is also an active member of the Professional Services Council.

  • Lou Crenshaw, Managing Director
    Lou has served as the Chairman of the TechAmerica Defense Committee for the past three years and has been active in a variety of TechAmerica initiatives. Lou is regular participant in the TechAmeria Outreach program, providing industry perspective briefings to senior contracting officers as a part of their Defense Acquisition University curriculum. He also has been the Program Chairman for the Greater Washington American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) annual Professional Development Institute.  Attended by over 1000 members of the Defense Department’s Financial Management corps, this event provides unique access to the best and brightest leaders in DoD Financial Management. He is also a Certified Defense Financial Manager. Lou also lead the annual survey of DoD financial officials sponsored by ASMC and Grant Thornton for the 7 years. Lou participates in numerous PSC and AGA events throughout the year.

HJS Leadership in the Community

Responsible leadership requires not only a commitment to industry excellence, but also a commitment to giving back to the community in which people work and live. Several of our leaders have extensive service in the public sector and military. Below are some examples of how HJS serves our profession and community.

    Lou is involved in a variety of professional and community service organizations. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, an organization dedicated to serving our Nation’s wounded, ill and seriously injured Sailors and CoastGuardsmen. He is also on the Board of the Association of the United States Navy and serves as the National Treasurer of the organization. Lou currently serves on the Board of the Fund for Charitable Giving of the National Presbyterian Church. In prior years Lou has served on the Executive Board of the Washington Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Ball Committee. He is also active in the Mission Readiness organization, a group of 450 retired flag and general officers supporting quality preschool education for all of America’s youth.  Lou is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Adminstration.  Lou served in the United States Navy for over 30 years and has received numerous awards for valor in combat, including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross with the combat distinguishing “V”, the Bronze Star and numerous other awards.

  • Morgan Kinghorn, Senior Advisor
    Morgan is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) and has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. NAPA is an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan organization established to assist government leaders in building more effective, efficient, accountable, and transparent organizations. Morgan has the unique qualification of having served in government, industry and the non-profit sector. He has received numerous awards for outstanding service in these organizations including the AGA Andy Barr Award in 2000, SES Executive of the Year in 1996, the Presidential Meritorious Service and Distinguished Awards, and the Daniel Scantlebury Award in 1985, the highest award in the Federal government in financial management.
  • Jim Huse, Senior Advisor
    Jim was elected as a Fellow in NAPA in 2011 in recognition of over 45 years of distinguished service in the Federal and private sector. He was appointed by President Clinton to be the Inspector General of the United States Social Security Administration. Jim was also an Assistant Director in the United States Secret Service.   Jim served in the United States Army with assignments in the infantry and counter-intelligence and was decorated for valor and meritorious service.
